The Kansas Jayhawks landed 3-Star football recruit Daniel Wise Thursday afternoon. The 6-2, 270 pound recruit hails from Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas where he played Defensive Tackle.
Wise’s scouting report, via ESPN Insider, shows that he possesses good size and strength with his ability to get off the line, but lacks explosive straight-line speed with a 5.43 40-time. With the ability to fire low and maintain “good football position,” Wise an excel versus the run. The Texas native has great, active hands and has the strength to push offensive lineman back, closing the pocket for the Quarterback in the pass rush. Wise also displays ringing toughness and a high motor to stay active each and every play. The bottom line on Defensive Tackle Daniel Wise is that he can play any position on the defensive line. Whether it be tackle in a 4-3 defensive set or end in a 3-4 defensive set, Wise will be able to contribute on the Kansas defensive front.
Daniel Wise reportedly also had scholarship offers from Colorado, Missouri, Texas Tech, as well as a few other programs before ultimately choosing the University of Kansas.
Wise becomes the 14th commitment to the Jayhawks in the 2014 recruiting class, including three Junior College transfers that declared for KU back in December.
