Kansas Lady Jayhawks Defeat Tulsa 82-78

Sunday afternoon the Kansas Lady Jayhawks took the floor at Allen Fieldhouse to take on Tulsa coming off a loss to #18 Purdue a week ago. Despite Tulsa clinging to the Jayhawks all game long, Kansas was able to prevail and defeat Tulsa 82-78.

Junior Guard Asia Boyd posted her second best scoring effort of the season (Best: Texas Southern – 25) with a team high 22 points on 7-11 shooting. Boyd also added 5 rebounds and five assists as well as one steal and one block to her spectacular all-around performance. Fellow Junior Chelsea Gardner was the Jayhawks second high-scorer of the day adding 18 points and 8 rebounds on 7-12 shooting.

Senior Guard CeCe Harper dished out a season-high 13 assists while scoring 15 points of her own on 6-11 shooting, bagging her first double-double of the season.

The Lady Jayhawks starting unit did the majority of the damage to the Golden Hurriances, combining for 75 of the teams 82 points (Boyd – 22, Gardner – 18, Harper 15, Knight – 11, Morgan 9).

Junior F Mariah Turner and Sophomore G Ashley Clark led the way for Tulsa, both scoring a team-high 18 points on a combined 13-25 shooting effort. Fellow Sophomore Kelsee Grovey added 13 points, 5, rebounds, and 3 assists to the Golden Hurricane’s losing effort.

The Lady Jayhawks have their Christmas break ahead of them before returning to the court December 29 when they face Yale at 2 PM CST.
