On Tuesday, the NCAA made their announcement of the five most rambunctious and intimidating college basketball venues in the country via the High-Five feature on NCAA.com.
The Kansas Jayhawk faithful will be happy to learn that what they have thought to be true for years has finally been proven: Allen Fieldhouse is the most rowdy home crowd in the nation.
Phog Allen Fieldhouse topped the charts as the loudest and most challenging venue in the country. Coming in second was Cameron Indoor Stadium (Duke), followed by the Carrier Dome (Syracuse), Gallagher-Iba Arena (Oklahoma State), and rounding out the top five was “The Pit” (New Mexico).
A report from KUsports.com shares a number of interesting facts about Kansas’ house and it’s history, a few of which I will share with you here:
- Allen Fieldhouse has sold out the past 200 games dating back to the 2001-2002 season.
- Current Head Coach Bill Self has more conference title wins (9) than losses in Allen Fieldhouse.
- The University of Kansas has led is conference in home game attendance for the past 27 seasons.
- Kansas has won 30 straight home season finales.
The Jayhawks will have Allen Fieldhouse rocking again this Saturday morning at 11 AM as they try to extend their non-conference home winning streak to 67-games.
