Week 7 Rankings: #18 Kansas

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

In the latest release of the college basketball AP Top 25, according to ESPN.com, the Top 5 remains unscathed in consecutive weeks for the first time this season. Arizona is still the top dog, despite a streaking Jim Boeheim Syracuse unit nipping at their heels. Villanova and Duke are tied for the 8th ranking, both receiving 1,053 points, while UCONN closes out the Top 10.

Roy Williams and the #18 North Carolina Tar Heels managed to knock off the #11 Kentucky Wildcats Saturday, giving the Tar Heels their third signature win of the season. UNC defeated third-ranked and defending National Champions the Louisville Cardinals in late November and the #1 ranked Michigan State Spartans in early December.

After suffering their second consecutive loss and third in their previous four games in the swamp at #19 Florida, the Kansas Jayhawks bounced back Saturday in Kansas City against the New Mexico Lobos with a bang, aided by an outstanding second half performance. The Jayhawks have consistently slid back the previous two weeks and look to begin to make the necessary strides towards being fully prepared for a rather tough conference schedule which begins January 8th on the road versus Oklahoma.

The Kansas Jayhawks can next be seen in action Saturday December 21 as they take on the Georgetown Hoyas in Lawrence.
