According to a report from JayhawkSlant.com, 3-Star Junior College Defensive Back Ronnie Davis of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M has committed to the Kansas Jayhawk Football program.

The 6-1, 170-pound JuCo recruit made his commitment to the Jayhawk coaching staff Monday after returning home from his visit to Lawrence this weekend. Davis, as reported by Kusports.com, had previously been committed to Utah State before Kansas came into the recruiting picture late, ultimately swaying Davis to re-commit with KU. Davis had other scholarship offers from Kentucky, Toledo, Tulane, UAB, Arkansas State, and Colorado State. Davis, who can play a multitude of secondary positions, primarily played cornerback the previous season, recording five interceptions.

Wednesday opens the mid-year signing period for football, which extends through January 15, 2014. Davis plans to sign his letter of intent Wednesday and being a mid-year graduate, expects to land in Lawrence in January.

“I’m glad things ended up the way they did,” Davis said. “This gives me a chance to go in and play spring football and build a bond with the team and get my body ready. Going from junior college to division one can be hard, but I will be ready.”
