Lady Jayhawks Off to 4-4 Start

The Kansas Lady Jayhawks have kicked off the season with a monotonous 4-4 start. The Jayhawks got off to a good start, winning their first three games by double digits. KU is on the opposite end of the spectrum as of late, attempting to put an end to a current three game slide, including a 73-40 loss to #2 Duke.

Junior Forward Chelsea Gardner is the go-to player for the KU squad, averaging 15.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. Asia Boyd, Junior Guard out of Detroit, Michigan averages 10.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Kansas Senior Guard CeCe Harper averages 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.

The Lady Jayhawks shoot a respectable 40% from the field and 74% from the free-throw stripe, but struggle from the three-point line, only averaging 26.8% shooting per game. On the defensive end of the floor, the Kansas team plays tough nosed. Four different players have corralled double digit steals in only eight games this season (Knight – 14, Gardner – 11, Cole – 11, Harper – 10).

Kansas was scheduled to play Texas Southern at home Sunday afternoon, but due to an ice storm and other inclement weather conditions, the game has been postponed and rescheduled for December 12 at 8:00 EST.

The Lady Jayhawks have a lot more basketball to play and a lot more time to improve before March arrives.
