First place in the Big 12 conference will be on the line when the Kansas Jayhawks pay host to third-ranked Texas Longhorns later tonight in Lawrence. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. central time and is available on ESPN 3.
Texas is 11-2 overall and 4-0 in conference action, while Kansas holds a 13-4 record overall and are 4-0 in the Big 12.
Last season when the teams faced off, the Longhorns barely held off the Jayhawks in a 3-2 match win. Texas went onto win the national title last year, and the match with Kansas was one of their few five-set matches all season.
Kansas leads the Big 12 conference in blocks, kills, assists and attack percentage. Sara McClinton is a huge part of this as she averages 4.69 kills per set, and 4.96 points per set.
This game showcases the top offensive squads vs the top defensive squads. Both teams rank in the top two for both categories in the Big 12 conference. Kansas has the conference’s top offense and defense, while Texas is right behind.
