Kansas Soccer: Jayhawks Fall 1-0 to TCU

On Friday night in Lawrence, the Kansas Jayhawks soccer team fell 1-0 to TCU as Kelly Johnson’s goal in the 18th minute held up.

The loss pushes Kansas’s record to 5-7-2 and 0-2-1 in the Big 12 conference. TCU improved to 5-6-3 overall, and 1-2-1 in conference.

Overall, the Jayhawks out-shot TCU, 20-15. Though only three of these shots were on goal. TCU made seven shots on goal in the contest. This is the Jayhawks third straight game without a goal. Kansas had numerous chances down the stretch, including making four shots in the final seven minutes of the game, to come away with no goals.

Liana Salazar and Ashley Williams each made four shots apiece to lead the Jayhawks. Kansas goalie Kaitlyn Stroud did her best to keep the Jayhawks close as she made six saves, making this five straight matches she has accomplished this feat.

Next up for the Jayhawks is a trip to Morgantown as they face the defending Big 12 conference champions, West Virginia next Friday at 6:00 p.m. central time.
