Kansas Football: A Look at the Rice Owls Offense

The Rice Owls host the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. These two teams squared off last season, with Rice upending Kansas in the last seconds of the contest, 25-24.

Rice enters the game with an 0-1 record, while Kansas is 1-0. The Owls on the offensive side of things are led by Taylor McHargue. The quarterback had a great effort vs Texas A&M in the team’s opener on Aug. 31st, throwing for two touchdowns and two interceptions. The quarterback completed 62% of his passes for 180 yards.

Owls running back Charles Ross in the opener vs the Aggies, rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns, while on the receivers side of things, Rice has a solid one in Jordan Taylor. The wide receiver got the best of the Jayhawks last season when he made nine catches for 101 yards. Vs Texas A&M, Taylor made seven catches for 68 yards and a touchdown.

Rice with McHargue has developed more of a passing game then in previous seasons when the team relied mostly on the rushing game. McHargue makes the team go, if he is on then Rice is a very dangerous team.
