The Kansas Lady Jayhawks soccer team and Arizona Wildcats battled to a 1-1 tie late Friday night in Tempe. The game was affected by crazy weather conditions, that saw the opening temperature at 105 degrees, the warmest ever for a Kansas soccer game. Then before the first half ended, the game was stalled for over an hour due to rain.
Caroline Kastor scored her third goal of the season in the 10th minute of action, providing the team’s only score. Arizona knotted the game up at one in the 85th minute of action, from Alexandra Doller. Hanna Kallmaier assisted Kastor’s goal.
Kansas improved to 3-1-1 overall with the tie, while Arizona now has a record of 3-0-2.
Kansas out-shot Arizona, 26-12 with eight of these shots being on goal for both squads. Jayhawks goalie Kaitlyn Stroud made seven saves in the contest, while Arizona’s goalie Gabby Kaufman made six.
Next up for the Jayhawks soccer team is a meeting with Arizona State on Sunday also in Tempe at 1:00 p.m. central time.
