Kansas Football: Three Ways to Defeat South Dakota

Here are three ways for the Kansas Jayhawks football team for their season to get started on the right foot, and defeat South Dakota on Saturday in Lawrence.

1. Rush the football: James Sims, Tony Pierson, and Jake Heaps all can rush the football, putting extra pressure on South Dakota’s defense. Sims is one of the top running backs in the Big 12 conference, while Pierson figures to play most plays for the Jayhawks on offense. Heaps as the new starting quarterback adds another dimension to the team.

2. Pressure Josh Vander Maten: The South Dakota quarterback runs the team’s offense, keeping constant pressure on him from guys like linebacker Ben Heeny, will help matters out.

3. Go for the kill: This Kansas team needs to get the season off on the right foot and avoid another FCS team pulling off the upset. Gaining the upper hand early on in the game will put pressure on the visiting Coyotes team.
