Here is a weekly look at former Kansas Jayhawks have fared in the MLB this past week.
Sam Freeman: Freeman’s last appearance in the MLB came in a game last week vs Chicago. The pitcher lasted just over one inning of relief for the St. Louis Cardinals, in a 7-0 loss. Freeman after the game was optioned to Triple-A Memphis.
Tom Gorzelanny: Gorzelanny last pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday as he lasted just over three innings for the team. Gorzelanny struggled in the outing vs St. Louis as he gave up seven earned runs and ten hits. The pitcher earned the loss for the Brewers. On the season, Gorzelanny is now 3-5 with an ERA of 3.65.
Mike Zagurski: Zagurski was signed by Oakland over the week to a minor league contract. The left-handed relief pitcher has until Sept. 1st to opt out of the deal if he hasn’t made the major league team roster. Zagurski has pitched for Pittsburgh this season, and made appearances for the New York Yankees on the team’s Triple-A team. Zagurski, joins an Oakland team that has two lefty relievers on the team’s major league roster in Jerry Blevins and Sean Doolittle.
