On Friday night, the Kansas Jayhawks soccer team fell 1-0 to Arkansas in Fayettville.
Razorbacks player Ashleigh Ellenwood scored the lone goal of the match in the fourth minute of the contest. Kansas had many chances throughout the game, yet couldn’t crack the Razorbacks goal.
Kansas outshot Arkansas 11-9, though both teams made five shots on goal. Kansas had many of their opportunities in the second half, where they out-shot their host, 8-3. Though Razorback goalie Cameron Carter stayed true and the one goal held up. Carter made four saves on goal in the second half.
Jayhawks midfielder Jamie Fletcher made two shots on goal, while Cara Van Slambrouck, Courtney Dickerson and Ali Kimura each had one shot. Razorbacks midfielder Tyler Allan made two shots on goal to lead Arkansas. Jayhawks goalie Kaitlyn Stroud made four saves on the match.
Next up for the Jayhawks is their home opener vs Pacific on Sunday. Game time is 12:00 p.m. central time. Pacific lost 5-1 to Missouri in their season opener also on Friday.
