Kansas Football: Jayhawks Name Team Captains

Yesterday during a two-a day practice session, the Kansas Jayhawks selected their 2013 team captains.

The team chose: running back James Sims, quarterback Jake Heaps, linebacker Ben Heeny, and defensive lineman Keon Stowers.

The group was voted captains by their fellow teammates. Kansas also announced nine players who will be part of a leadership committee. Those are: tight end Jimmay Mundine, wide receiver Christian Matthews, running back Tony Pierson, offensive lineman Pat Lewandowski, defensive lineman Kebo Agostinho, cornerback Cassius Sendish, safety Dexter Linton, holder Blake Jablonski and buck Darius Willis. Head coach Charlie Weis also announced that Jablonski earned a scholarship with the team.

Kansas opens the 2013 football season vs South Dakota on Sept. 7th in Memorial Stadium. The game will begin at 6:00 p.m. central time.
