Here is a weekly look at those few players from the University of Kansas in the MLB.
Tom Gorzelanny: Gorzelanny made it back to the mound for a start last Saturday vs Seattle. The Milwaukee Brewers pitcher led the team to a 10-0 win over the Mariners. Gorzelanny gave up three hits and two walks in the win, and lasted seven innings on the mound.
Sam Freeman: A relief pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Freeman made two appearances this past week. He lasted one inning in a game on Tuesday vs Chicago, earning the win and giving up no hits. Freeman then pitched yesterday vs the Cubs, earning one out and gave up one hit.
Mike Zagurski: Zagurski exercised his opt-out deal with the New York Yankees, and became a free agent this past week.The former 12th-round pick has a 2.66 ERA with in almost 48 innings between the Pirates’ and Yankees’ Triple-A affiliates this season. Zagurski has had great success in the minor leagues vs left-handed batters. He can now sign with a different team in need of some relief help for their playoff run.
