Oklahoma State with 15 first- place votes, and 365 points out-distanced Oklahoma in the poll by 10 points. Head coach Bob Stoops team picked up 355 points and eight first-place votes. TCU and Texas were picked third and fourth, while Baylor placed fifth. TCU had nine first-place votes, while Texas picked up eight. Baylor had two first-place votes. Last year’s conference champion Kansas State along with Oklahoma was selected sixth in the poll with one first-place vote, just ahead of Texas Tech and West Virginia.
