As the second half of the MLB season kicks off today, one former Kansas Jayhawk pitcher Tom Gorzelanny keeps on making himself a good name, while Mike Zagurski attempts to get back into the league.
Gorzelanny will start as the number four pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. The left-handed pitcher has a strong ERA of 1.88 in 35 appearances and almost 53 innings overall. The pitcher has lost his last two appearances, both one-run games to Arizona and the New York Mets, 2-1. He continues to lack runs with the team in his starts.
Zagurski continues to battle for a major league spot with the Yankees. In six games pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this year, Zagurski amassed an ERA of 15.00. He was then demoted to the minor league, only to deny the move by Pittsburgh and cleared waivers. Zagurski was then signed by New York and is attempting to make it back to the major leagues. The pitcher is having minimal
success in the minor leagues with an ERA of 9.08 for a Yankees team.
