McLemore Struggles in Kings Debut


Former Kansas Jayhawks guard Ben McLemore scored just 11 points in his summer league debut for the Sacramento Kings. McLemore, shot 4-23 from the field, including 1-11 from behind the 3-point line.

The Dallas Mavericks defeated McLemore and the Kings, 76-73 in the first game of the Las Vegas Summer League for both teams. Drew Gordon led the Kings with 17 points, while Josh Akognon paced the Mavericks with 22 points. Jae Crowder scored 16.

The Kings next play on Monday vs Golden State.

Fellow former Jayhawks rookie Jeff Withey now with the New Orleans Pelicans didn’t play in the teams opener. Withey hasn’t been cleared to play yet in the league with all players in the three-team trade that sent the center to New Orleans have yet to take a physical. Withey is expected to play today

as is fellow rookie Pierre Jackson from Baylor.

New Portland Trailblazers forward Thomas Robinson scored six points in his debut with the team. Robinson and the Blazers lost 82-69 to Phoenix on Saturday.
