Kansas Football: Jayhawks Sign Pearce Slater

Late last week, the Kansas Jayhawks announced the signing of Pearce Slater, an offensive lineman from El Camino College.

Slater is the 30th recruit for Kansas with the 2013 recruiting class. He is one of six players to sign with Kansas from California junior colleges. Slater joins Marquel Combs, Brandon Holloman, Marcus Jenkins-Moore, Ngalu, Fusimalohi, and Trevor Pardula as juco recruits for the Jayhawks from the state. Overall, Slater is the 21st juco recruit for the class.

Slater is listed as a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com and JCFootball.com. He is the 55th-rated junior college prospect. Slater helped lead El Camino College to a 9-4 record last season after appearing in 11 games.

He is the fifth offensive lineman in the class as head coach Charlie Weis continues to rebuild the program and attempt to make it relevant once more.
