Jayhawks in the MLB 7-8

Over this past week Tom Gorzelanny remained the lone Jayhawk in the MLB, yet there are a few on the cusp of breaking into the vaunted league.

 

Gorzelanny started for the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday in a 2-1 loss to the New York Mets. The pitcher threw for six innings, allowing just eight hits and two earned runs. Gorzelanny appeared in two games vs the Washington Nationals in addition to the start in relief. He pitched just over three innings in the two appearances, allowing only one hit and one earned run on Thursday in two losses for the Brewers. Gorzelanny pitched for the Nationals the previous two seasons. For the season, the pitcher has a record of 1-2 and an ERA of 2.12.

 

Mike Zagurski who formerly pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates this season though was released is now in the New York Yankees farm system. The pitcher is attempting to make it back to the major leagues before August 15th or he can be bought out of his contract. Zagurski, has a record of 2-1 with an ERA of 5.69 so far in the minor leagues.
