Former Kansas Jayhawks forward Thomas Robinson was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Portland Trailblazers on Sunday. The deal can’t be finalized until July 10th.
The Rockets will receive two future second round picks, Marco Todorovic, and Kostas Papanikolaou from the Blazers. Both Todorovic and Papanikolaou are in contracts overseas.
Houston also waived Carlos Delfino and Aaron Brooks in a cost cutting move to get cap-space in order to sign Dwight Howard.
Last season Robinson averaged five points and five rebounds per contest. He averaged just 15 minutes per game. This will be Robinson’s third NBA team since joining the league in 2012 as the fifth choice of the Sacramento Kings.
As a junior at Kansas, Robinson’s final with the team, he led the team in scoring with 18 points per game and posted 27 double-doubles.
At Portland, Robinson joins a team in flux as they look for a capable center opposite all-star forward Thomas Robinson and more depth all around the roster. Robinson, should be able to help with this issue.
