Kansas Volleyball: A Look at Next Season’s Schedule

Earlier this week, the Kansas Jayhawks volleyball team released their schedule. Last year, the Jayhawks finished 26-7 on the season, including a top-25 finish. Kansas hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament at Allen Fieldhouse. Now the team will look to improve upon this finish vs the top teams in the nation.

The Big 12 conference packs a number of teams who all made the NCAA tournament last season including defending champs Texas, and Iowa State, Kansas State and Oklahoma. Also on the schedule is Notre Dame, Central Arkansas, Creighton, Bowling Green and Arkansas, all teams who made the NCAA tournament last season. Central Arkansas won 30 times last season, while Creighton made it to 29 victories. The Jayhawks defeated Creighton last season for one of the Blue Jays four defeats. Arkansas, and Bowling Green along with Notre Dame are all powerhouses with strong rosters intact.

Tournaments in Arizona and Wisconsin will also test the team in the early part of the season. The conference play begins on Sept. 28th vs TCU. A game with Kansas State then follows as both teams were on the cusp of national glory last season. Kansas defeated the Wildcats in two grueling match-ups. Matchups with Iowa State who finished 14th in the nation and Texas then await the Jayhawks.

The schedule begins with the Wildcat Invitational on August 30th as Kansas matches wits with Central Arkansas, Morgan State and Arizona.
