Just a couple weeks ago, the Kansas women’s track and field team won the national title as a team. Now a handful of the team, along with a few of the men’s teams members will compete for a chance to represent USA at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow during August.
Andrea Geubelle will compete in the triple jump and long jump event beginning today and concluding on Saturday. She finished in third last year in the triple jump. Paris Daniels is set to compete in the 200 meter dash where she won both in the indoor and outdoor Big 12 championships.
Heather Bergmann in the javelin, Christian Guenther in the pole vault, Jessica Maroszek in the discus and Tianna Valentine in the 100 meter run also are set to compete.
On the men’s side, Michael Stigler and Kyle Clemons are set to compete. Stigler, a two-time reigning champion in the Big 12 for the 400 meter hurdles, will compete beginning today. Clemons, is set to battle in the 400 meter dash for the second straight year. Clemons has the sixth-fastest time (45.10) in the nation this year.
