On Saturday at Austin, Texas, the Kansas track and field team continued to put on an impressive show with even more athletes qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In total, the Kansas Jayhawks will have 20 entries for the National Meet which tackes place on June 5-8.
Andrea Geubelle, who already qualified for the long jump event, added her name to the triple jump. Geubelle, won the 2013 Indoor triple jump event.
Heather Bergmann, and Paris Daniels both qualified in their events. Bergmann, advanced in the javelin, with her top throw reaching 49.82 meters (163″5′). Daniels, qualified for the 200 meter race with a time 22.93 on Saturday.
Three more men competing individually qualified as Alex Bishop and Casey Bowen both made the pole vault event, as they cleared 5.40 in the event. Jesse Vaughn, also made Nationals in the javelin, with a throw of 68.69m good enough for a top 12 finish.
The two women’s relay team’s in 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter teams both made nationals. The team of Daniels, Diamond Dixon, Denesha Morris, and Tianna Valentine ran 43.86 in the 4×100-meter relay, easily winning the event on Saturday. The 4×400-meter team Morris, Dixon, Daniels and Taylor Washington advanced with a run of 3:31.77.
The men’s 4×400-meter relay advanced with a time of 3:04.93. Michael Stigler, Kyle Clemons, Michael Hester, and Demario Johnson will compete for Kansas in the event.
