On Saturday night, the sixth-seeded Kansas Jayhawks completed the first side of their pool play with a perfect mark as they defeated TCU, 4-0.
Kansas completed the pool play with a 3-0 record, while TCU finished 0-3. Robert Kahana picked up the win for Kansas, as he pitched six innings and gave up four hits. Relievers Drew Morovick, Justin Mustain, and Jordan Piche all kept the shutout going the final three innings. Piche, pitched just over two innings as he picked up another save. TCU starter Andrew Mitchell gave up just one run, while reliever Alex Young allowed the final three runs.
Michael Suiter put the game out of reach with a two-run homer in the seventh inning, pushing the Jayhawks lead to 4-0. Kevin Kuntz, had just reached base on a walk, before Suiter stepped up to the plate. Kuntz drove in the first run on a single in the third innings. Ka’iana Eldredge was able to score. Alex DeLeon scored in the sixth inning on a wild pitch. Eldredge led Kansas with two hits in the game, while Horned Frogs centerfielder Cody Jones led all batters with three hits.
Now Kansas advances to face Oklahoma tomorrow in the Big 12 conference tournament championship. The game will be played at 1:00 p.m. central time. It can be seen on FSN. Oklahoma defeated Kansas two out of three times this season at Norman in late March.
