Kansas Football: Kansas Adds Harwell to Roster

On Thursday, Kansas football coach Charlie Weis announced the addition of Nick Harwell, who signed a grant in aide from the University of Miami of Ohio. Harwell is a 6-1, 183-pound wide receiver out of Missouri City, Texas.

Harwell, led the Mid-American conference last season with 68 receptions, despite missing three games with a knee injury. He ranked 13th in the nation in receptions per game with about eight, and 14th in receiving yards per game. As a sophomore, Harwell ranked second in the country with 97 receptions for 1,425 yards and nine touchdowns. Harwell, was named to the All-MAC first team, and honorable mention from Sports Illustrated. The receiver set a new Miami record as a freshman when he made 11 receptions for 219 yards vs Ohio. As a freshman, Harwell made 64 receptions for 871 yards. On two occasions, he was named MAC offensive player of the week.

Harwell will join the team in August. He leaves Miami ranked second in school history with 229 receptions and 3,166 receiving yards.
