It was another strong performance for the Kansas Jayhawks mens and women’s track and field squads on Saturday. Many of the athletes recorded career bests in the Ward Hylett Invite that took place in Manhattan, Kansas.
Natalia Bartnovskaya, earned a school record in the pole vault for the third time this season. Bartnovskaya, cleared a vault of 4.45 meters (14’7.25″), a number good for 11th highest in NCAA history.
Andrea Geubelle, leaped to a jump of 13.85 meters (45’5.25″) in the triple jump, easily winning the event. Elsewhere, Paris Daniels continues to dominate every event she competes in, with a run of 52.61 in the 400m dash.
Two Jayhawks throwers picked up career-making numbers as Alena Krechyk tossed the hammer, 68.15 (223”7), and Jonathan Miller tossed the discus 55.92m. (192”5).
Nick Giancana and Austin Hoag, both notched great numbers in the high jump event. Giancana, jumped 2.17m, while Hoag jumped 2.07m.
The Jayhawks now wait for the NCAA championships which will be held on May 23-25 in Austin, Texas.
