The player many consider to be the top-ranked for the class of 2014, Jahlil Okafor was visited by Kansas head coach Bill Self this week. The 6-11, 270-pound forward has already received a visit from Ohio State, and will have in-home visits from Baylor, Duke and Michigan State also this week.
Okafor from Whitney Young high school in Illinois, averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds this past season as a junior. He finished second to Jabari Parker, a Duke recruit for Mr. Illinois.
The second ranked player for 2014, point guard Tyus Jones, has an interest in playing with Okafor. Jones’s finalists include: Duke, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Kansas, Kentucky, and Baylor. The two struck up a friendship while playing together at a national level.
Jones averaged 21 points and six assists as a junior.
Both players plan to put together a list of finalists over the summer.
