Big 12 Conference NCAA Tournament Update

Only two of five Big 12 conference teams in the NCAA tournament advanced to the third round. Top-seeded Kansas in the South region, and 10th-seeded Iowa State in the West region both made it to the round of 32. Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State all fell in second round contests.

Iowa State advanced to a game tomorrow vs the second-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes. The Cyclones throttled Notre Dame on Friday, 76-58 behind 19 points from Georges Niang. Iowa State was in control of the game throughout easily moving onto a meeting with the Buckeyes.

Kansas had their problems with Western Kentucky, yet managed to hold on and advance to a game with North Carolina on Sunday. The Jayhawks will look to make enough improvements to advance onto the Sweet 16 next week.

Oklahoma was no match for San Diego State in the second half of their second round game yesterday. Romero Osby led the Sooners with 22 points in the loss, yet the team failed to slow down Aztecs senior guard Jamal Franklin who scored 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Fourth-seeded Kansas State lost to 13th-seeded LaSalle in a shocker. The Wildcats fell behind early, only to rally and take the lead, but when it counted LaSalle was the better team. Jordan Henriquez keyed the Wildcats with 17 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Oklahoma State was the victim of a team being seeded wrong in Oregon on Thursday. The Cowboys fell behind early and failed to recover in losing to the Ducks, 68-55.
