Tomorrow as part of the second round of the Big 12 tournament, the Kansas Jayhawks and the Texas Tech Red Raiders will square off.
The game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. central time and will be televised on ESPN 2. The top-seeded Jayhawks are 26-5 on the year, while Texas Tech is 11-19. Texas Tech defeated West Virginia on Wednesday night to advance to this round on a last-second field goal made by Dejan Kravic. The forward scored 10 points to go with seven rebounds in the game for Texas Tech.
Kansas beat Texas Tech both times the teams met this season, with Kansas running away from Texas Tech in their last meeting in Lawrence, 79-42. Before in the season, Kansas beat Texas Tech, 60-46 in Lubbock.
Jaye Crockett leads the way for the Red Raiders scoring about 12 points per contest. The forward scored 18 in the team’s win over West Virginia. Crockett teams up with Jordan Tolbert on the front-court. Tolbert is averaging about 10 points per game, and six rebounds. Freshman guard Josh Gray is the teams main assists man, averaging three per game. Gray also is averaging nine points.
Kansas will look to improve upon their last season run, and forget Saturday’s performance at Baylor, that saw the team lose by 23 points. Jayhawks center Jeff Withey has had great performances vs the Red Raiders this season, including a game-high 22 points in Kansas’s win on March, fourth.
Also in the Big 12 tournament on Thursday, fourth-seeded Oklahoma faces fifth-seeded Iowa State, third-seeded Oklahoma State takes on sixth-seeded Baylor, and second-seeded Kansas State is set to face seventh-seeded Texas, who has TCU on the ropes ahead by 11 with one-minute left.
