Kansas Women's Basketball: Lady Jayhawks Fall to Iowa State in Conference Tournament, 77-62

The second-seeded Iowa State Cylcones ended the seventh-seeded Kansas Lady Jayhawks run in the Big 12 conference tournament, Saturday with a 77-62 win. Iowa State advances to play either West Virginia or Oklahoma in the semifinals of the tournament.

Kansas fell to 18-13 overall on the season. The team will await word of any post-season tournament after the loss. Iowa State with the win improved to 22-7.

Chelsea Poppens had 24 points and 14 rebounds and Hallie Christofferson added 23 points for the Cylcones. Anna Prins scored 14 points in addition for Iowa State. Kansas was led by a trio of Carolyn Davis, Angel Goodrich and Chelsea Gardner who all scored in double figures. Davis scored 17 points along with six rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocked shots. Goodrich scored 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds, while Gardner added 12.

Kansas enjoyed a great start for the game, running to an 8-2 lead four minutes into the contest. This changed in a hurry as Iowa State took control of the game, with a 28-10 run. By halftime, Iowa State held an 34-26 lead on the Jayhawks. In the second half, Kansas failed to get the lead under ten points after Prins connected on a three-pointer to start all scoring. Iowa State held a 71-49 lead after Prins hit another three- pointer with six minutes left.
