Kansas Basketball: Baylor Game Preview

The Kansas Jayhawks and Baylor Bears square off tomorrow in the regular season finale for both squads. The fourth-ranked Jayhawks enter the game with a 26-4 record overall, and 14-3 mark in the Big 12 conference. Baylor holds a 17-13 record overall and a 8-9 record in conference. The game will be televised by ESPN at 5:00 p.m. central time.

Both teams have something to play for, as Kansas is fighting for the regular season crown in the conference, while Baylor needs a big win for help in getting accepted to the NCAA tournament. In the team’s earlier meeting on Jan. 14th, Kansas defeated the Bears, 61-44 behind 17 points scored by Ben McLemore.

Baylor is led by senior guard Pierre Jackson, who is averaging 19 points, four rebounds and six assists per game. Freshman center Isaiah Austin, is second on the team in scoring averaging just under 14 points, and leading the team in rebounds at nine per contest. Senior guard A.J. Walton is second on the team in assists at four per contest along with four rebounds and seven points.

Kansas looks to win their eighth straight game en route to the conference title. Fellow first place tie, Kansas State travels to play Oklahoma State tomorrow afternoon. The Jayhawks hold the tiebreaker on the strength of defeating Kansas State twice this season.
