Instant Reaction: Jayhawks Whip TCU, 74-48

On Saturday afternoon in Lawrence, the ninth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks extracted some revenge in defeating TCU, 74-48. Jeff Withey led the way with 18 points, and six rebounds.

With the win, Kansas improved to 23-4 and 11-3 in Big 12 conference play. TCU fell to 10-17 and 1-13 in conference. Ben McLemore added 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman Perry Ellis scored 12 points, and Travis Releford added 12. Devonta Abron led TCU with 18 points. No other Horned Frog player scored in double-figures.

Kansas jumped on TCU right from the start, scoring the first 11 points of the game. From there the lead continued to grow, after Ben McLemore drained a three-pointer with six minutes left in half, Kansas held an 32-9 lead. At halftime, the scoreboard read 38-9.

In the second half, Kansas continued to stay ahead with ease even playing backups the majority of the time. TCU never threw much of a scare, Kansas’s way. The Horned Frogs after Kyan Anderson hit a three-pointer cut the lead to 24 with 11 minutes left, though couldn’t get any closer.

Next up for Kansas is a key game with Iowa State on Monday in Ames, Iowa. The Cyclones are 19-8 overall after beating Texas Tech on Saturday.
