On Wednesday night, the 14th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys will host the ninth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. central time, and will be televised on ESPN 2. Oklahoma State previously defeated Kansas on Feb. 2nd in Lawrence, 85-80. The loss snapped an 18-game winning streak for the Jayhawks and a chance at the top ranking in the next week’s poll. The winner will keep pace with Kansas State for first in the Big 12. The Wildcats are blowing out West Virginia currently, in a game that should put them at 10-3 in conference. Both Oklahoma State and Kansas have an 9-3 record also.
Oklahoma State hasn’t lost since Jan. 21st in a game with Baylor, 64-54 in Waco. The Cowboys have won seven straight thanks largely to their strong backcourt of Markel Brown, and Marcus Smart. Brown is leading the team in scoring, averaging about 16 points per game, while Smart is scoring 15 points per game. Smart in addition, is averaging six rebounds and five assists per game. Senior center Philip Jurick leads the team in rebounds, averaging about seven per game.
Kansas defeated Texas and Kansas State each by 20 points last week in preparation for this encounter with the Cowboys. The Jayhawks are once again scoring points and playing great defense, something that was missing during their three-game slide. Expect a great battle on Wednesday when these two teams square off for the rematch.
