Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings: Kansas Falls From The Top

Here is how Through the Phog see’s the weekly basketball rankings in the Big 12 conference.

1. Kansas State: The Wildcats take over the top spot thanks in large part to Kansas’s slide. Kansas State also defeated a tough Iowa State team yesterday. Next up is the Sunflower Showdown in Lawrence vs Kansas on Monday.

2. Oklahoma State: The Cowboys just keep winning as they pulled into a tie with Kansas for second place. Oklahoma State defeated Baylor and Texas this week. Next up Texas Tech on Wednesday.

3. Kansas: The Jayhawks have fallen from the top due to a string of three losses in a row. Losing to TCU was bad, though the team improved yesterday, dropping a tough one to Oklahoma. Next up is Kansas State.

4. Iowa State: The Cyclones lost to Kansas State yesterday in a game that could of gone either way in Manhattan. Iowa State earlier this week defeated Oklahoma. They are tied with the Sooners for third in conference. Next up is Texas on Wednesday.

5. Oklahoma: The Sooners are back in the thick of things after defeating Kansas. Next up for the 6-4 in Big 12 conference, team is a game with TCU on Monday.

6. Baylor: The Bears lost to Oklahoma State then whipped Texas Tech over the week. Baylor remains tied for third with a 6-4 mark. Next up is a streaking West Virginia team on Wednesday.

7. West Virginia: The Mountaineers have won three straight games, inching towards .500 in conference. West Virginia after beating Texas and TCU over the week, next faces Baylor on Wednesday. Eron Harris is improving with each game as the team’s starting guard.

8. TCU: The Horned Frogs shocked Kansas this week only to falter vs West Virginia on Saturday. Next up for the Horned Frogs is a meeting with Oklahoma.

9. Texas: The Longhorns fell to West Virginia and Oklahoma State over the week, falling to 2-8 in conference and 10-13 overall. Next up for Texas is Iowa State on Wednesday.

10 Texas Tech: The Red Raiders have taken over the last spot in the rankings after losing to Baylor and Kansas State over the week. Next up is Oklahoma State on Wednesday.
