Jeff Withey and Ben McLemore were named to the Oscar Robertson watch-list on Friday. The United States Basketball Writers Association announced in addition, that McLemore was added to a Wayman Tisdale freshman of the year watch-list.
McLemore leads the Jayhawks in scoring at 16 points per game. This total is tops for all freshman in conference, and is second overall. Withey is averaging 13 points per game and eight rebounds. The center has seven double-doubles this season, and is tops in the conference in blocked shots, averaging 4.3 per game. On the year, Withey has 86 blocked shots, more then six Big 12 conference teams.
The duo joins Tyler Zeller (Indiana), Trey Burke(Michigan), Michael Carter-Williams (Syracuse), Doug McDermott (Creighton), Viktor Olapadio(Indiana), Kelly Olynk(Gonzaga), Mason Plumlee(Duke), Russ Smith(Louisville), and Deshaun Thomas(Ohio State) in the list.
Kansas and Oklahoma State square off tomorrow in Lawrence. On Saturday, the Indiana Hoosiers and Michigan Wolverines meet in a battle of two top-three teams in Bloomington, Indiana.
