Kansas Basketball: Oklahoma Game Preview

On Saturday, the second-ranked Kansas Jayhawks host Oklahoma State in a Big 12 tilt. The game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN 3. Kansas enters the game with a 19-1 record and 7-0 in Big 12 play, Oklahoma State is 14-5 and 4-3 in conference.

The Cowboys are coming off a hard-fought win over Iowa State on Wednesday, 78-76. The win drawed the Cowboys into a tie wtih Iowa State for third in the Big 12. Oklahoma State is led by a strong guard play from freshman Marcus Smart and Markel Brown. Brown leads the team in scoring at 15 points per game, and Smart is averaging 14 points, six rebounds and five assists per game. Smart is just a freshman, like Kansas’s leading scorer Ben McLemore, making this game a key look at two great freshman. In the middle for the Cowboys, Phillip Jurick is the top guy. The 7-0 ft. center is averaging seven rebounds per game.

This is the first of two games between these two teams. Later on this month, the teams meet in Stillwater for a Feb. 20th contest.
