Kansas Women’s Basketball: Lady Jayhawks Whip Texas, 76-38

On Wednesday night, the Kansas Lady Jayhawks took out all their frustration of losing three straight games on Texas. Kansas erupted to an early 34-point lead at halftime, 46-12, before winning the game 76-38. The Lady Jayhawks improved to 12-5 on the season, and 3-3 in Big 12 conference action. Texas fell to 7-11 overall, and 0-7 in conference.

Seniors Carolyn Davis, and Angel Goodrich combined for 38 points in the win. Goodrich scored 20 points, to go along with six assists, five rebounds and two steals. Davis scored 18 points, pulled down six boards and made two blocks. Monica Engleman also scored in double-figures with 11 points.

Texas failed to put up much of a fight, connecting on only 27% of their field goals. The Longhorns made 1-10 three-point attempts, and just 7-19 from the free throw line. Kansas for the game shot 51% from the field, and 47% from the three-point line.

Texas never led in the game. Kansas’s largest lead came with 7:04 left on the clock, after a Goodrich three-pointer pushed the margin to 70-30.

Next up for Kansas comes a rematch with 12th-ranked Oklahoma State on Saturday. On Jan. 8th, the Cowgirls defeated Kansas, 76-59 kicking off the Jayhawks
