On Tuesday, Kansas State will host Kansas in a inner-state rivalry match-up. Kansas State enters the game 15-2 overall and 4-0 in Big 12 conference play, while Kansas is 16-1 overall and 4-0 in conference.
Kansas State has lost to fourth-ranked Michigan and 14th-ranked Gonzaga this season. Before yesterday, the Zags moved into the top 10 at number eight. The Wildcats have won eight straight games, including beating seventh-ranked Florida on December 22nd. Kansas State is led by senior guard Rodney McGruder, who is averaging 16 points, five rebounds and two assists per contest. Fellow guard sophomore Angel Rodriguez is averaging nine points and five assists. Kansas State’s top guy up front is Thomas Gipson. The forward is averaging seven points and about six boards per game.
The Wildcats don’t overwhelm you with points, they are winning games playing solid team basketball, with great defense. McGruder, is one of the nation’s top players so far on the season, he will be looking forward to this game with the Jayhawks.
Kansas won a thriller against Texas on Saturday. Don’t expect anything else when these two teams take the court on Tuesday. The game will be televised on ESPN 3.
