Kansas Basketball: Jayhawks Improve to 15-1 After Beating Baylor

On Monday night, the Kansas Jayhawks thumped the Baylor Bears, 61-44 in Lawrence. Kansas was in control right from the start, jumping on the previously unbeaten in Big 12 play Bears team. With the win, Kansas improved to 15-1 overall and 3-0 in Big 12 conference action. Baylor is 11-5 and 3-1 in conference.

Kansas was led by freshman guard Ben McLemore who scored 17 points, to go along with eight rebounds, two assists, three steals, and two blocks. Fellow starting guards Elijah Johnson and Travis Releford, also scored in double figures. Johnson, totaled 12 points, and three rebounds, while Releford scored 10 points and pulled down five boards. Baylor was led by freshman center Isaiah Austin who scored 15 points, and 11 rebounds.

Baylor never led in the game, and were down by as many as 19 points. The Bears connected on just 23% of their field goals for the game. Kansas wasn’t much better, making only 37% of their shots.

Next up for the Jayhawks is Texas on Saturday in Austin. The Longhorns have a record of 8-8 overall, and 0-3 are 0-3 in Big 12 conference action.
