Kansas Women's Basketball: Baylor Preview


On Sunday at 1:30 central time, the 17th-ranked Kansas Lady Jayhawks host the top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears in Lawrence. Baylor enters the game with a 13-1 record overall and 3-0 in the Big 12. The Bears lone loss came to Stanford, 71-69. The Lady Jayhawks lost to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Tuesday.

Baylor is led by Brittany Griner, who is easily the top women’s player in the nation. Griner, averages 20 points, eight rebounds and about three blocked shots per contest. Griner led the Bears to last season’s women’s basketball championship, where Baylor came out on top. Point guard Odyssey Sims, is second on the team in scoring. Sims, averages about 13 points per game, and six assists. The Bears have one other double-figure scorer in Brooklyn Pope, who averages 12 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Jayhawks, will be looking to rebound upon a bad night of basketball on Tuesday. Kansas fell behind right from the start, and failed to make much of a run to get back into the game. Angel Goodrich, and Carolyn Davis will need to lead the way vs Griner and Sims.
