The Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas Jayhawks both kick off their Big 12 conference play Wednesday night in Lawrence. The game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. central time and will be shown on ESPNU.
Iowa State has a record of 10-3 on the year. The three losses came to Cincinnati, UNLV and Iowa. Iowa State defeated BYU, 83-62 on Dec. 1st.
The Cyclones are led by senior guard Will Clyburn, who does a little bit of everything for the team. Clyburn leads the team in scoring at 14 points per game, is second in rebounding at seven, and second in assists with nearly three per contest. Fellow guard Tyrus McGee is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13 points and four rebounds. The Cyclones top rebounder is Melvin Ejim who averages a near double-double at 11 points and nine rebounds. Point guard Korie Lucious leads the unit in assists at five per game.
Iowa State enjoyed a great season last year, in advancing to the third-round of the NCAA tournament before bowing out to eventual champion, Kentucky. All signs point to another great campaign this year. Look for a great conference opener between two of the league’s top teams.
