Kansas Women’s Basketball: Oklahoma State Preview


On Tuesday, the Kansas Lady Jayhawks travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to face the 13th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls. On the year, Oklahoma State has an 11-1 record, though they are facing second-ranked Baylor this afternoon. The Lady Jayhawks are 11-2 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 conference. If the Cowgirls lose on Sunday, they will be 0-2 on the year in Big 12 play.

Forward Toni Young leads the Cowgirls with 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. Guards Liz Donahoe and Tiffany Bias also average in double figures for the Cowgirls. Donahoe averages 17 points and seven rebounds, while Bias contributes with 14 points per game and eight assists. The Cowgirls previously lost to Texas Tech in their Big 12 opener on Jan. 2nd, 64-59.

Kansas won a slug-fest with West Virginia on Saturday, 60-59. The game went back and forth throughout, until senior forward Carolyn Davis propelled the Jayhawks to the win in the end. Angel Goodrich, leads the nation in assists and is amongst the leaders in steals. Goodrich and Bias will battle it out for point guard supremacy in the conference.

Next up after the Cowgirls for Kansas is a game with second-ranked and possibly top-ranked Baylor next Sunday. Previously top-ranked Connecticut fell to Notre Dame on Saturday.
