Kansas Football Roundtable: Is Charlie Weis Recruiting Push for JUCO Recruits a Good Sign?

Kansas head coach Charlie Weis signed a slew of recruits on the JUCO side of things. Marquel Combs, and Chris Martin are both four-star recruits who signed with the Jayhawks. Kansas had a 1-11 record last season, and immediate help is on its way.

Rickey: I like the fact that Coach Weis is pushing for JUCO recruits. JUCO players have played the college game before and have had one or two extra years to mature as a player. That is not to say that high school recruits are not good, but Kansas is not on the level to get the “stand-out” high school recruits.

George: Kansas is starting from the ground up with strong offensive lineman and defensive lineman prevalent on the recruiting list. Jake Heaps, a transfer from BYU will help out at the quarterback spot, plus Cozart and Darling are both signed. Look for the Jayhawks to improve, but how much is hard to say.
