Kansas Basketball: American Game Preview

Tomorrow evening, the Kansas Jayhawks host American at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence. The sixth-ranked Jayhawks will be searching for their 10th straight win after their only loss to Michigan State. American is 4-8 out of the Patriot Conference. The Eagles, most recently lost to 15th-ranked Georgetown, 65-48 last Saturday.

American is led by senior forward Stephen Lumpkins. He averages 15 points and eight rebounds per contest. Lumpkins, scored 10 points in the Eagles loss to Georgetown. American guard Daniel Munoz, contributes with 10 points, and three assists per game. American as a team, averages just 55 points per game, and shoots the ball just over 41% from the field.

Kansas guard Ben McLemore will look to continue his dominance on the court. McLemore is averaging 16.5 points per contest, to lead Kansas. Center Jeff Withey, is averaging 14 points and eight rebounds, good for second on the team.

After American, Kansas next faces Temple. The Owls defeated previously unbeaten, third-ranked Syracuse last Saturday. Temple is 9-2 on the season. Game time is yet to be determined.
