The Kansas women’s basketball team lost for the first time this season to Arkansas on Thursday night, 64-56. The game was played in Fayetteville, Arkansas. 17th-ranked Kansas falls to 7-1 overall, while the Razorbacks improved to 8-1.
Quistelle Williams led the Razorbacks with 15 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Sarah Watkins came off the bench to contribute 14 key points for the home team. Kansas star forward Carolyn Davis was held to six points in the loss. Senior floor general Angel Goodrich led Kansas with 21 points, six assists and four steals.
Arkansas took the lead at 17-16 off a Melissa Wolf three-point field goal connected. This began a 19-8 run to end the first half, pushing the Razorbacks lead to nine at halftime. Kansas fought back in the second half, stealing the lead back at 43-42 off a Chelsea Gardner made field goal. The host team instantly snatched it back, Jhasmin Bowen connected on a made lay-up. Arkansas then finished the game on a 23-13 run en route to the win.
