The 20th-ranked Kansas Lady Jayhawks defeated Minnesota, 65-53 Sunday afternoon to push their record to 7-0 on the season. Minnesota in their first road game of the year, fell to 6-3 overall.
Carolyn Davis led the Jayhawks with 20 points and five rebounds in the victory. Angel Goodrich, once again did everything else. The point guard scored nine points, had six assists, four steals and two rebounds. Chelsea Gardner came off the bench to score 14 points and pull down six boards. Minnesota was led by Rachel Banham who scored 19 points, pulled down five boards and had three assists.
The two teams went into the locker-room with the score knotted up at 30 points apiece. After a Banham made three-point field goal, the scoreboard read 42-41 in favor of the Jayhawks. Kansas broke open the game after this field goal, scoring the next nine points of the contest propelling the lead to 51-41 at the 6:55 minute mark. The Golden Gophers cut the margin to seven but failed to get any closer.
Next up for the Lady Jayhawks is a meeting with Arkansas on the road. The game is scheduled for Thursday and begins at 7:00 p.m. central time. The Razorbacks after defeating Pepperdine on Sunday, are 7-1 overall.
