The Kansas Lady Jayhawks face Alabama A&M on Friday in Lawrence. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. central time. Kansas after defeating Wake Forest last Sunday, vaulted into the national rankings on Tuesday at 22. This is the first time, Kansas has been in the top 25 since 2010. The Jayhawks on the season are 3-0, while Alabama A&M enters the game at 1-2. A win on Friday, would be Kansas head coach Bonnie Hendrickson’s 300th in her coaching career.
Alabama A&M finished last season with a 17-12 record in the SWAC. The team was picked to finish third in the conference during the pre-season. Alyssa Strickland leads Alabama A&M in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per contest. The guard is deadly from behind the 3-point line, connecting on 6-16 attempts this season. Twin sister Brittany Strickland, adds eight points per game. Both Strickland’s form Alabama A&M’s starting backcourt. Ebony Johnson is the team’s leading rebounder, averaging just over four per contest. Johnson also scores about six points a game.
Kansas senior forward Carolyn Davis, will look to continue with her early season torrid pace. Davis is averaging 19.7 points per game, leading the team. Fellow senior, Angel Goodrich leads the team in assists and steals. The Jayhawks have two players tearing up the boards in Tania Jackson and Monica Engleman. Jackson the last two games is averaging 11.5 points and 11 rebounds per game. Engleman is averaging nearly seven rebounds per game.
