The Kansas Jayhawks will have a bye this next week, awaiting West Virginia on Dec. 1st as they look to end a 10-game losing streak. Kansas is win-less in Big 12 conference play. Here is a look at the team as it stands right now.
Kansas is led by a strong running back duo in James Sims and Tony Pierson. Sims on the season has 956 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, and this is after missing the team’s first three games. The junior has teamed with Pierson to make the Jayhawks rushing attack one of the best in the nation. Pierson on the year, has 730 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
The Jayhawks passing attack has been shaky from the start this season with the duo of Dayne Crist and Michael Cummings. Neither have solidified themselves as a viable starting quarterback. Crist has four touchdowns and eight interceptions on the season, along with 1,272 passing yards. Cummings wasn’t expected to play much before the season began, though has had to step in. He has three touchdowns and four picks.
The Kansas defense at times has been a bright spot. The unit is led by safety Bradley McDougald who has 70 tackles and three interceptions on the season.
Kansas and West Virginia will play at 1:30 central time next Saturday.
