Kansas Football: 3 Things We Learned vs Iowa State

Yesterday evening, the Iowa State Cyclones defeated Kansas Jayhawks, 51-23 in Lawrence. The game was the Jayhawks senior night. Here are three things we learned about Kansas.

1. Lack of passing game hurts: The Iowa State defense keyed in on Kansas’s rushing game yesterday, totally taking the Jayhawks out of the game. Kansas head coach Charlie Weis brought Dayne Crist off the bench, trying to get some passing game going, though this failed.

2. Turnovers: Once again turnovers came back to prevent Kansas from a possible victory and instead turn the game into a blowout. Three fumbles and one interception fueled Iowa State’s attack in the win. Kansas had no chance to win the game, with all the turnovers that were happening.

3. Who is Sam Richardson?: Steele Jantz started the game for Iowa State, only to be lost in the Cyclones third series of the night. Third-string quarterback, Sam Richardson came out in relief to throw four touchdowns in the win. Richardson’s efforts were assisted by the Jayhawks who couldn’t hold onto the ball.

Next week, Kansas returns to action in the season finale vs West Virginia who suffered their fifth straight loss of the year on Saturday vs Oklahoma. The visiting Sooners defeated the Mountaineers in the final seconds of the game, preventing the home team from becoming bowl eligible.
